Opening day was a very successful day as we remembered the wonderful contribution to the Club by Frank and Kath Hoare. For those who didn’t know them Leo McDonald told us about their history with Lonsdale GC in the morning and Bob Macafee and Peter Williams a few out of school stories in the afternoon. It was good to be able to remember and reminisce.  There were 153 players for the day, 86 played in the am field and 67 pm. This was great as the temperature had been forecast to be in the 30’s. We were very lucky with the weather as a sea breeze blew in late in the morning and continued throughout the day becoming a bit more than a breeze in the afternoon.

Scores for the day were amazing with Rodger Manning and John Nall having 52 points and being the winners of the Frank and Kath Hoare Cup. I believe that Rodger started the day with 5 points and had another 5 pointer during his round.  It was pleasing to see two new members, Will Slattery and Sam Wayth as Runners up with 49 points. They pipped on a count back.  In the afternoon John Fearon and Bill Stokes, 49 points, were the winners with Alex Korostin and Adrian Heritage, 48, second and Ross McDonald and Jeff Nicholson, 46 on C/B, third.
