Women’s President Report March 2016
Posted on: 21 March
Women’s guest day on 8th March was another successful event with a full field of 124 players and a waiting list. At least 24 clubs were represented, with 49 guests from other clubs. Unfortunately because of the heat and humidity weather predictions it was decided to make it a 9 hole event instead of 18 to make the day more enjoyable; a good call as it turned out! If there is enough interest we plan to have a 9 hole guest day for the older/injured ladies that only play in 9 hole comp on Tuesdays, as they miss out on playing in our guest day.
I attended the gourmet bbq which was a great night. Well done Paul Heseltine and his merry band of friends/helpers. The new outdoor blinds are the latest item funded by the social club.
Have heard good reports about the Tuesday night meal deal – $20.00 for 2 courses. Unfortunately not many of our members seem to be supporting the different catering options being trialed. In my experience ‘if you do not use it you will lose it’ then it is too late. Rachael is doing a good job providing good food at good prices so there is no excuse. I myself have been remiss, feeling guilty if eating out instead of using the home grown produce, but will be there to give my support this week! Please support your club and all the effort put in by Paul to improve our club hospitality.
Thursday Chook Run still very popular and a good starting point for the new lady members that have joined lately. They appear settled in already in spite of their golfing frustrations.
Unfortunately one of our lovely ladies, Liz Gamby, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be undergoing treatment. As many of our women have already experienced this, she will receive much needed support. We are a very strong supportive group of women when needed. It is very timely that we will be conducting a ‘Tee off for breast cancer research’ golf day later in the year.
April will be another busy month with the first round of women’s championships on 5th (entry forms now available in clubhouse and pro shop) and women’s pennant commencing on 8th. Captain Sally has been very busy organizing the golf before she heads off to Japan. She is so organized and competent and therefore great to work with. I am very lucky to have such a good committee this year.
