On Sunday 9^th of December, 2018 the Lonsdale Golf Club Executive Committee was announced at the Annual General Meeting.
 
The following members were elected:

John Christophersen (President)
Graham Douglas (Captain)
John Manley
Rob Hutchinson
Andrew Kennedy
David O’Connor
Heather Perkins
Georgie Clegg
 
We understand that there has been some consternation that the Women’s President was not an automatic election to the Executive Committee at the recent elections.
 
While it has been the case that the Women’s President was an automatic election in recent times, the change relates to a resolution passed at the 2017 AGM. This resolution was supported by a pre-read circulated before the 2017 AGM and at the AGM John Manley spoke to the motion in detail and invited questions.
 
The intent of the resolution was to establish succession planning on the Executive, with two positions becoming vacant each year. The resolution also ensured gender representation with a requirement that at least two men and two women must be elected. If some members did not read the resolution and supporting documentation or did not attend the AGM, then it is understandable that they may be surprised.
 
Equally, this should highlight to all members the importance of both reading resolutions as they arise and attending the AGM to have any queries attended to, or in the case of being unable to attend, requesting to read the minutes to stay fully informed.
 
In this instance the Women’s President was not elected, however it is the considered opinion of the Executive Committee that she should continue to attend Executive Committee meetings by invitation.
