Women’s President Report – September
Posted on: 6 October
Lonsdale Open Week of Golf meant another busy month for the women’s sub-committee. We look forward to having our secretary, Jeanne Hildebrandt, back next month after Graeme finishes his current course of treatment.
Thank you to the ladies that turned up to help with divot filling to prepare the course for Open Week even though it was a cold, wet day. To come into the clubhouse afterwards to a nice fire going and plenty of scones for morning tea was much appreciated by all.
Club Captain, Lorel, did an excellent job of organizing all the events for Open Week, ensuring that everything ran smoothly.
Thank you to the sponsors of the ladies events.
Oakdene Vineyards – Women’s 18 Hole Championship; congratulations to the winner, Angela Foott.
Crowe Horwath – The Irish 4 ball was well supported with 108 players, including ladies from thirteen other golf clubs. John Christophersen was on hand to give an update on the club’s progress; a good opportunity not to be missed with so many visitors present. This is always a popular event and many of the ladies enjoy playing our course and come back each year. We were blessed with good weather and everyone enjoyed the day. Congratulations to the winners: Kath Evans, Jill Leonard, Myrna Maloney and Ursula Cole.
Thank you to Don Hanley, Marty Evans and their team of helpers on the day assisting with parking and bunker raking. With such a big field we appreciate your support, making the day run smoothly.
Next month the women’s sub-committee will be calling for nominations. This is my final year as Women’s President and at this stage we have three very good candidates prepared to stand for positions of President, Vice President and Secretary. However we are still seeking interest in the position of Vice Captain. It is very important that this role is filled as it is Captain Kath’s final year next year and the person taking over will need next year to be trained for this very important role. If we do not have a Women’s captain, women’s golf will not be the same as we know it now. Expressions of interest would be very much appreciated.
Good golfing everyone.
