Captain’s Report – July

Posted on: 28 July

New Members

It is fantastic to see that we are still getting new members, especially at this time of year when most of the local population has deserted the town.

Welcome to Leonie Rutherford, Archie Tingay, Max Russell, Trent Buckland and Aaron Jones.

Juniors

The current junior program has worked well and there are now 10 juniors who have joined as members.

In the next few months there will be a different format where there will be more effort given to those who are keen to improve their skills.

Thanks to all the volunteers and parents who have supported the juniors during the winter. Your participation has been invaluable.

It has been amazing to see how quickly the boys have progressed with Andrew and Luke Adam both winning C Grade comps and Rex Darcy and Ben Waterson also being in the winners list.

Andrew won the SWGA Junior C Grade championship played at Geelong and was third in the Junior Masters played at Portarlington on 16 July. They will soon be available for pennant.

Open Week

The Open Week Entry Form is now available on the web and in the clubhouse.

Allie has arranged for a sponsor for each event so keep the week from 12 -17 September free.

Please support the events and win great prizes.

SWGA and LONSDALE Men’s Foursomes

This event is scheduled for 20 August and thanks to the generosity of Don Walker the prizes are well worth winning. Keep that date free and enter. Entry forms in the clubhouse and on the web. SWGA entry forms also on the SWGA website.

Claremont Cup

The draw for the Claremont Cup has been posted and with everyone heading away from the cold it was pleasing to have 10 entries.  Good luck to those playing.

Women’s Captain’s Shield

Congratulations to Heather Perkins on winning the Shield for a second time. Well done to Daelene Crigan for making the final and putting up a good fight.

Malpas Cup

Entries for the Malpas Cup are out and will close on 26 August at 5.00pm

Cards

When marking a card please ensure that the Gross score is entered and correct and the dot marked. Plus, minus or stableford points may be entered but the machine can determine these. No score can be altered without the marker being present and agreeing to any change.

Tee Markers

The tee markers are set by the ground staff and MUST not be moved by players at any time.

The markers are set to protect tees areas from overuse.

I am having a short break from July 23. Graham Douglas will answer any queries while I am away.

Good Golfing

Keep warm and well
