Celebrating 100 Years

Posted on: 10 November

Next week our Club will mark its 100th birthday!

Established in 1922, Messrs Nicholas and Pascoe purchased 45 acres of land in Point Lonsdale for 1000 pounds and opened the then-named Point Lonsdale Golf Links on 18 November.

They decided to fund a golf links because they felt that a golf course would be a good alternative to swimming when the weather was unsuitable.

Our Club names over the years

Throughout the years our Club has changed name and design up until our most recent and game-changing redevelopment of the course and clubhouse that allowed us to debut in 20th place for Golf Australia Magazine Top 100 Australian courses (under our new-look name – Lonsdale Links).

Starting as Point Lonsdale Golf Links in 1922, by 1931 it was Point Lonsdale Golf Links Club (just a bit of a mouthful). In 1945 the name then changed to Lonsdale Golf Club before finally changing to Lonsdale Links in 2020.

Celebrating 100 years with the community

Our community is a big part of who we are and where we have come from as a Club.

So, to celebrate this momentous occasion we are throwing a free, family-friendly 100th Birthday Party; and everyone’s invited!

Community Day at Lonsdale Links

Taking place on Sunday 20 November 2022, we will host the birthday party event of the year. Featuring a petting zoo, scavenger hunt, face painting, putting competition, live music, and more.

This will be a free event for Point Lonsdale and surrounding communities.
