Covid-19 Update 23/3

Posted on: 24 March

Dear Members,

It feels quite surreal to be writing a communication to members of this nature.

Josh has communicated comprehensively below on operational changes at the club as they stand today. We are mindful of the impact that this will have on our employees. It is a worrying time for them and we are keeping them informed of developments as it relates to them as best we can as government directives are announced.

We are conscious that members will be concerned about the overall financial standing of our Club. We have an appropriate level of financial analysis of the Club’s financials and with our current funding arrangements we do not have an impending cash issue. However we are reviewing all operations to reduce operating costs and implementing various measures to both meet government requirements and protect cash.

The cash flow projections have been re-assessed against a backdrop of the economic downturn. From that analysis it was concluded that the project works across both the Stage 2 course and the major stage building plans will proceed. Any delays to these major project works could of course be affected by matters related to any coronavirus incident or government directive.

We will communicate again as circumstances change.

Dear Members,

In light of new restrictions put on registered and licensed clubs (of which we are a member) on the 23/3/20, Lonsdale Golf Club will implement the following operational measures immediately until restrictions are raised.

  • The golf course and Pro Shop remain open (X-Golf and lessons will be unavailable).
  • The clubhouse including the bistro, bar and change rooms will be closed from Tuesday 24th March 2020.
  • All golfers must register in the Pro Shop prior to commencing play. The social distancing measures implemented in last week’s bulletin remain in place. Rakes have also been removed from bunkers, meaning that we ask you to please smooth the bunker with your feet as best you can. Putting cups have been raised too, please don’t attempt to put these down. If your ball touches the cup, it is considered to have been holed. Both public and private golf carts are restricted to one person only to adhere to the 1.5 metre spacing requirement.

This is an incredibly challenging period for everybody, not just the golf club. We are doing our best to take these measures in our stride and adapt to the situation. For now, the golf course remains open and we are still able to play the game we love. Please be sensible in your use of the facility. Please be understanding with our staff as we try our best to continue to offer the members the best service we can. We will continue to update you as issues develop.

Best Regards,

Josh Hall
