Presentation Night – Report & Photos
Posted on: 28 November
On Saturday 25th of November, 83 members and family attended the dinner and Presentation Night.
After many years of declining attendances at the afternoon function it was very rewarding to have so many attend this year. When asked earlier this year by John Anderson, Ben Martin and Jeff Nicholson if we could revert to the dinner format I was very apprehensive so my thanks to award winners, partners and supporters for making the evening a great success.
It is great when the award recipients are present to receive their award and the acknowledgement of members.
Congratulations to all winners and special congratulations to Heather Perkins and Ben Martin winners of the most prestigious Club Awards and our Club Champions for 2017.
This year at the suggestion of Graham Douglas Kath and I told the history of The Storrer Cup, Maggie Roddick 4 Ball and The Longuehaye Trophy as many of the newer members have no knowledge of the history of the Gold Letter Events. Next year we will choose different events so that traditions are kept alive.
Another feature of the evening was to have 5 out of 6 Life Members present – Leo McDonald, Dave Smith, Lorel Larcombe, Garry Titheridge and John Calnin with almost 200 years of service to the Club between them. Unfortunately, Bevan Cracknell is not well and was unable to attend.
Thanks Sally Collier for suggesting that it would be a good idea to have a photo while there are a few available.
My thanks also to the Kitchen and House Staff for a great job, who without the main chef, managed to provide and serve an excellent meal.
Thanks also to Rob, Allie and Gaby for all their extra work in organizing the event.
Thank you to the Silver Ware cleaners, you made everything sparkle, but I’m thinking we now have some excellent fingerprints if they are ever needed.
Thank you to Helen Irwin and Graham Douglas for your help and a very special thank you to Kath Evans for organizing the women’s presentations so well.
Lorel Larcombe
Thank you to Bev Wheeler who did a wonderful job of being our photographer on the night.
