Women’s Captain’s Report – September

Posted on: 10 October

This month has been a very busy with our Open Week and Maggie Roddick .

A few showers started our 18 hole women’s championship but all came in dry. There was a field of 20 players for our scratch event which was very exciting with a 3 way play off between Angela Foote from Portarlington, Tayna McGann Lonsdale and Jenny Edmanson also from Portarlington with Angle Foote winning on the first play off hole.

A field of 34 players entered the stableford event with Sue Miller winning on a countback from Sally Hall a battle of the Lonsdale women. Oakdene sponsorship was very much appreciated.

Friday saw another very successful Irish four ball with over 100 players with the Lonsdale team of Jill Leonard ,Ursula Cole , Myrna Maloney and Kath Evans winning. We were very lucky with the weather the rain didn’t start until we had finished. Crowe Horwarth were our very generous sponsors again very much appreciated.

After the Open week we started into the rounds of the Maggie Roddick Memorial Trophy each round was contested closely if not on the scoreboard in the mind, with the final being played between Bev Wheeler and Sally Collier against Euince Percy and Lynnette Reynolds which was contested fiercely and won on the 18th by Euince and Lynnette congratulations! To all the women who made up the gallery I thank you it makes the finals of our Gold Letter events so much more special.

October sees the start of a very busy month with the Women’s Foursomes, Saturday quarterly medal , RT Edgars Veterans Trophy, Amenities Day, the Womens trip away and of course Eva Russell welcome to the eighties luncheon.

I hope everyone is fit and healthy to get through it all.

Cheers and Good Golfing Kath
