Junior Pennant Report Round 1

Looking very smart in their new caps and shirts (thanks to QPLCE), five very excited boys gathered at Portarlington for their first match, together with their caddies.

After viewing the opposing team sheet, there were mixed feelings as most of the Portarlington team were on much lower handicaps and were experienced pennant players. But after reassurance that this meant most would receive shots, the tension subsided and the matches began.
They all made a good start with their first drives on the fairway and managed to win or square their first hole. After that some matches see sawed, being close all the way and all going to the last 3 holes, except for Jordan who was ahead all day. There was some excellent golf with lots of pars and great shots. Rex made many excellent shots to the green, Andrew had a tough match and was unlucky to lose a hole that he parred and after being down early in their matches Ben and Luke came home strongly with pars to win their matches.
Well done to the team on a great first match winning 4/1 against a much older and experienced side.
