Captain’s Cup Report

The semi-final and final of the Captain’s Cup was held on Sunday 18 June. In the morning round, Ben Martin defeated Jeff Nicholson 5/4 and Zane Moylan defeated John Anderson on the 19th.
After a very close match Ben Martin was the winner of the 2017 Captain’s Cup defeating Zane Moylan 2 up.
Zane started his round with a birdie and Ben finished the match with a birdie on the 17th so there was some very good golf and some amazing recovery shots. On the 8th Ben after being in the trees on the left hit out towards the 12th tee. From there it was just a pitch over all the trees to the green. (I wish). No trouble to Ben as his ball ended up 2 metres from the pin. Unfortunately, he missed his birdie putt. Poor Zane who had come up the right way scored 5 as well.
It was a great match and it was pleasing to see a new face in the final as Ben and John Anderson have played in the final for many years. Well done Zane, you certainly validated my Captain’s pick.
