WOMEN’S PRESIDENT REPORT MAY 2017

The Lonsdale Women’s Open Challenge Bowl was held this month and we wish to acknowledge and thank Big 4 Beacon Resort in Queenscliff for sponsoring the day.  We had 18 visiting clubs participating and were blessed with perfect weather for the day.  The sixty players enjoyed the course, even though there were not many good scores.  Our course is quite deceptive and many visitors find it quite challenging but always enjoy coming here.  The extra effort we put into our special events combined with working well together as a team always ensures success.

Pennant season is now finished and we have won at least one flag with the Sunday Womens pennant team winning their division. Strong competition in other divisions did not bring home the flag, but participating is the most important part and we cannot all be winners. Thank you to our women members who made themselves available each week to represent the club; we appreciate your commitment. To conclude this year’s pennant season it was time to have some fun at the Pennant Night dinner, with the theme this year ‘The Age of Aquarius’.  Captain Kath had fun coming up with ideas for her first Pennant Night dinner, ensuring it was an entertaining evening.  With Kath as MC and Cherryl as DJ we were entertained with songs and acts from each pennant team, reminiscing the sixties era. Well done everyone. There was plenty of ‘flower power’ around the clubhouse that night!

Welcome to our newest lady member, Alison Cornish.  We also welcome Hamish and Luke who will be looking after our catering requirements.

The annual Chooks v Roosters contest yesterday resulted in the first ever win for the Chooks with a very narrow winning margin of just .1  No crowing for the Roosters this year! Thank you to Big Bird and Scottie for organizing the day.

There continues to be progress around the club this month with the social committee finalizing the playground area; Leo McDonald commencing work on the XGolf building; new water storage tanks and maintenance shed nearing completion; junior golf program commenced and growing rapidly (well done Lorel!); work on the Strategic Plan nearing completion and finally the appointment of a Project Director.  It has been a busy month.
